SHAKEFEST IS BACK! In its 12th year, no matter what size or what’s on, you’ll be guaranteed to have an amazingly cultural and creative experience every year.

Once again at Charleville Castle, Tullamore, we are offering some energetic and creative kids workshops and our usual colourful and eclectic Evening Hafla of cultural entertainment on Saturday, May 27th, and kids and adult art workshops on Sunday, May 28th!

Here’s our initial programme for Saturday:

GRAND BALLROOM – kids ages 4-12

2pm – Hula Hoop

3:15pm – Intro to Circus Skills (diabolo, plate spinning, juggling)

4:30pm – Intro to Cultural (Middle Eastern, Bellydance)

*** each workshop has max. capacity each of 25 so book ASAP to avoid disappointment!

11am-1pm – Muwashahat (Intermediate)
2-5pm – Manbuty (General Levels)

5:30pm DINNER BREAK (selection of burgers, chips, salads and drinks available for purchase)


7pm – Evening Cultural Hafla feat. kids dance groups, Oriental and Middle Eastern dance, International Guest Instructor/Performer Mariel Sitka, Olaconga Reggae and African music

There will be a few market stalls in the main hallway for your perusal and kids facepainting from 1pm!

Aidans Workshops
Art workshops with Aidan’s Art Academy
Kids 4-12 workshop: 10am-1pm €20
Adults workshop: 2-5pm €25

*** again, max. capacity is 25 participants per workshop so book ASAP to avoid disappointment!

€7.50 per workshop
€15 for all 3 on Saturday (includes evening Hafla)
Package of €30 for 3 Saturday workshops plus Aidan’s arts workshop Sunday.

To celebrate the achievements of the students who participated in the National Architects in Schools Initiative, the IAF proud to announce a National Sharing Event taking place in the hidden gem Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

Pop up School of Arch

Teachers, Architects and architecture graduates have spent the last number of months working together with transition year student groups on a huge variety of architecture projects. They will use this inaugural event to meet fellow participants, share their experiences and learning and project outcomes.

The National Architects in Schools Initiative is devised and delivered by the Irish Architecture Foundation and is funded by the Arts Council, Department of Education and Skills and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht under the Government Policy on Architecture implementation programme.

Two lady artists of international standing have created a synergy opening eyes and ears!

It all started with the community arts festival INISCEALTRA in Mountshannon County Clare, of which the textile artist Nicola Henley and flautist Adriana von Runic where the founders in 1995.

Music & Art will create a unique experience for the audience in the perfect setting of CHARLEVILLE CASTLE.
