As we start to move away from Limerick

As the first phase of project lift draws to a close the second phase has already started! We’ve still got some of the waste treatment systems to remove from the site in Limerick if anyone can give a hand, again safepass required for it. You can contact us at info@charlevillecastle.com or through the contact page.

The second phase has actually been going on for awhile, it’s composed of planning and fund-raising. Such a large project would be nothing without either! We’ve got some good things planned with both buildings but as we start to leave Limerick we need to get going on fund-raising again to cover costs for moving the buildings and storing them. If you have any ideas for good fundraising events let us know! Alternativly there is a donate link on the right hand side of the site if you wish to contribute to this immense project for the castle.

We had a bit of a problem getting the latest pictures from the site in Limerick, hope to have them soon for a side-by-side comparison, might have a bit of video as well if it turned out well.

Project Lift – Update,.. We’re there!?

It’s been awhile coming but we can finally say, we’re there! After a phone call from Dudley on the site yesterday we can safely say every bit of the buildings, including the sewage treatment system, have been removed from the port tunnel site of Limerick. It’s an important milestone in this project, it marks the transition from work in Limerick to organising and sorting materials that have been transported off site to storage areas and to the Castle grounds.

We’ve still got a big job ahead of us but the first part is just about done with only some site clean up left, very soon we’ll be sitting down to planning and getting us through a busy summer, we have Shakefest comming up soon and Castlepaloozawon’t be far behind it!

A busy summer for sure, hope we’ll see plenty of familar and new faces around the Castle during the summer and when we start the next part, ground prep and of course finally putting up the buildings!

Project Lift – Nearly there!

We’re getting there! Not much left to dissasmble now, just the base. Plenty left to ship out.

What does everyone think of all this so far? 🙂

Castlepalooza sponsorship

As most will know Charleville Castle plays host to the year festival Castlepalooza run by CherryCool Promotions with this year being no exception (earlybird tickets available now!) Castlepalooza is alot of work for everyone involved with it, the volunteers involved put in a tremendious amout of work perpering the site, during the festival itself and site clean up afterwards. In relation to that the Castle has an insurance bill to keep up each year and this year the organisers of Castlepalooza have kindly agreed to pay the bill for this year. Without talking about amounts it means that another bit of wieght of concern has been lifted from our shoulders this year and allow us to concentrate even more on the current project.

A clock raffled to raise funds

Long-standing Volunteer Monica Daly who lives at the Castle Gate Lodge generously donated a hand made slate clock from Heartworks as part of a fundraising raffle in aid of Operation Lift.

She raised €100 towards the project, and one lucky winner by the name of Marian walked away with it!  Many thanks for your creative and fun approach to fundraising.

Have a look at the Heartworks website for more clocks and other incrediable designs made from slate.

Thanks again to Monica and Maurico!
